Semi‑Trailer Assembly Technician (Terre Haute, IN)
Picture your day starting with a safety huddle, then moving to your station on a modern production line where Great Dane semi‑trailers take shape. You’ll rotate through tasks, assemble components with pneumatic and electric tools, and team up to position large parts with cranes or carts. By shift’s end, you’ll see the tangible results of your craft roll down the line.
What You’ll Build and Do
- Use drills, drivers, riveters (pistol grip, pop, mashers, squeezers), impact wrenches, nut‑runners, saws, and grinders to assemble trailer components and final installations.
- Work with steel, aluminum, wood, fiberglass, composites, small fasteners/fittings, adhesives, and oil‑based products.
- Move materials via overhead crane, forklift, powered/hand carts, or manual carry to keep your area stocked.
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation and follow all safety and security procedures.
- Support the team as needed with additional routine duties to keep production moving.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Confidence using pneumatic power tools and related equipment.
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure and other measuring devices.
- Capacity to learn, remember, and switch among multiple tasks day to day.
- Follow written and verbal instructions; communicate effectively in English.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly; seek out process improvements to reduce scrap and waste.
- Meet or exceed daily production goals; output varies by process, customer specs, volume, and location.
- Inspect your work according to standard operating procedures to ensure quality.
- Hands‑on mechanical aptitude and comfort working in a production environment under supervisor guidance.
Physical & Work Environment
- Office and plant environment with frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, grasping, stooping, kneeling, twisting, crawling, climbing (including ladders), overhead work, pushing, and pulling.
- Lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly during 8–12 hour shifts; maneuver assemblies up to 180 lbs by pushing, pulling, or flipping into place with team assistance or devices.
- Keyboarding as needed for basic documentation; maintain a constant state of alertness.
