Tecknomic is looking for Seibi Technicians for a project with one of the largest automotive companies. This is a full-time, onsite role.

The Seibi Technician provides skilled technical support to Production Engineering and Manufacturing teams, responsible for inspecting, installing, trialing, and confirming new or modified production equipment and preparing it for stable, high-quality manufacturing. Supporting activity from equipment design through installation to start of production (SOP), the technician plays a key role in new model launches, line modifications, and continuous-improvement (kaizen) initiatives. Working hands-on with automation, robotics, and machine systems, the Seibi Technician increases operational availability, resolves technical issues, and ensures equipment meets the company's quality, safety, and standardized-work requirements.

Job Responsibilities

• Inspect and confirm new and modified production equipment; verify it meets the company's engineering, quality, and safety standards prior to and during production.
• Support equipment projects across the full lifecycle — design, build, trial, installation, commissioning, and start of production (SOP).
• Perform initial machine set-up and start-up; troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and controls issues to increase operation availability.
• Program, adjust, and validate industrial robots (e.g., Fanuc, Yaskawa, Kawasaki) and PLC-controlled systems; perform offline simulation and online programming as required.
• Coordinate with internal engineers, maintenance teams, and external equipment vendors/suppliers during equipment build and installation.
• Lead and support continuous-improvement (kaizen) activities to improve quality, safety, cost, and throughput.
• Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, and equipment specifications.
• Document set-up parameters, inspection results, and engineering changes; support standardized work and knowledge transfer to production and maintenance teams.
• Adhere to all company safety policies, lockout/tagout, and 5S requirements in the plant environment.

Requirements

Associate degree or higher in a technical discipline (e.g., Industrial Maintenance, Electrical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing/Engineering Technology) — or equivalent professional experience.
• Hands-on industrial maintenance, manufacturing equipment, or production-engineering experience.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, schematics, and equipment specs.
• Troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic/hydraulic, and controls systems.
• Familiarity with PLCs and/or industrial robotics in a manufacturing setting.
• Willingness to work in a plant environment, support off-shift/launch schedules, and travel domestically and internationally (including Japan) as needed.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills aligned to a continuous-improvement culture.

Preferred Qualifications/Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in an engineering or technical discipline.
• Robot programming experience with Fanuc, Yaskawa/Motoman, or Kawasaki controllers.
• PLC programming/troubleshooting (e.g., Allen-Bradley / Siemens) and HMI experience.
• Offline simulation / online programming and new-model launch (SOP) experience.
• Prior Toyota or automotive OEM/Tier-1 manufacturing experience; familiarity with TPS.
• Shop-specific expertise in Assembly, Body/Weld, Paint, Stamping, or Machining.
