Job Title: Segmentation TechnicianJob Description

This role focuses on producing high-quality pre-operative surgical plans by transforming CT scans into precise 3D anatomical bone models used in robotically assisted total hip and total knee replacement procedures. The segmentation technician works with specialized software and a proprietary case management system to support cutting-edge robotic surgery technology. You will contribute directly to one of the fastest-growing areas in the medical device industry while collaborating closely with a supportive, tight-knit team.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage surgical cases using a proprietary case management system.
  • Review CT scans to ensure they conform to established surgical protocols.
  • Segment CT scans using specialized software to generate accurate 3D anatomical bone models for robotic surgery.
  • Develop detailed pre-operative surgical plans using digital bone models for robotically assisted total hip and total knee replacement procedures.
  • Review CT segmentations and surgical plans for accuracy, including anatomical landmark selection, implant sizing, and implant positioning.
  • Upload completed pre-operative plans to field-based personnel in a timely and organized manner.
  • Document all activities thoroughly and accurately according to prescribed methods and procedures.
  • Follow detailed work instructions exactly to deliver consistent, high-quality output.
  • Maintain a strong focus on quality and productivity to help meet team and department production targets.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members in a close-knit environment to support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of work experience, preferably in fast-paced environments or computer-oriented roles.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in design-related software tools.
  • Ability to work with CT scans and understand basic imaging concepts.
  • Attention to detail and strong quality focus when reviewing anatomical structures, landmarks, and implant positioning.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures precisely.
  • Strong documentation skills and ability to record work activities accurately.
  • Comfort working with specialized software for 3D modeling and segmentation.
  • Effective time management skills to handle multiple cases and meet production targets.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher, ideally in a STEM-related field.
  • Knowledge of human anatomy, particularly skeletal structures, is highly preferred.
  • Experience with CAD software and 3D design tools.
  • Familiarity with design software such as Photoshop or similar graphic design applications.
  • Background or coursework in biomedical fields, design drafting, or related disciplines.
  • Experience with tools such as SolidWorks or other 3D modeling platforms.
  • Exposure to graphic design, scribing, or other visually oriented documentation roles.
  • Interest in medical devices, robotic surgery, or pre-operative planning technologies.
  • Motivation to grow into roles such as engineering, sales, onsite robotic surgery support, or advanced positions within the department.

Work Environment

This is an in-office position in a relatively quiet, focused atmosphere. The role follows a first-shift schedule, typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with voluntary opportunities to extend the workday up to 10 hours when needed. During the holiday season, Saturday work is typically available, and Sunday work may be compensated at a higher rate. The team operates in a close-knit, collaborative environment that offers a supportive, family-like feel and clear pathways for career growth into engineering, sales, onsite robotic surgery representation, and internal promotion opportunities. The dress code is business casual.

This is a Contract position based out of Portage, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
