Dewberry is seeking a talented Security/Technology (Low Voltage) Designer to enhance our Technology group within the Engineering Design Center located in Birmingham, AL. In this dynamic role, you will leverage your 3+ years of experience in low-voltage systems while also embracing the chance to develop your expertise across various technical disciplines and management. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong technology design background who are enthusiastic about contributing to innovative security solutions.

Key Required Certifications: • Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) • Physical Security Professional (PSP)

The Security/Technology Group is a specialized group of individuals responsible for security electronics, telecommunications infrastructure, and audio/visual designs for a variety of project types, including K-12, Higher Education, Healthcare, Justice/Public Safety, and Commercial.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical design for discipline area • Peer review project work for the discipline area • Work with team members in establishing/improving standards for discipline area • Adherence to project design schedules • Adherence to discipline project budgets • Pay attention to project scope during the design process to identify potential additional services • Provide general updates of projects (status in the process, tasks to complete, percentage complete currently, etc.) • Identify milestone dates when each discipline should provide information, at each phase, to allow sufficient time for good design coordination • Provide on-the-spot advice and decisions, technical and cost estimates • Coordinate with all of the disciplines involved, including outside consultants

Required Skills & Required Experience

High School Diploma required.

Required certifications include: Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), or Physical Security Professional (PSP) certifications.

Accomplished (3+ years of experience) in low voltage systems including:

• Structured cabling, both inside and outside plant • Electronic Physical Access Control • Video Surveillance • Intrusion Detection • Overhead Paging • Audio/Visual • Nurse Call • Real Time Locating Systems • Infant (and memory care) Protection • Emergency Responder Radio Communication Systems

Experience in the following systems: a plus.

Knowledge of the design and construction process.

Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

Experience in the design of low voltage systems, and an understanding of document preparation utilizing a BIM/Revit platform.

Well organized with the ability to take detailed notes.

Strong conceptual understanding of low voltage systems with general knowledge of system operation, space requirements, and cost.
