Role Summary

The Security Platform Engineer is a hybrid role responsible for providing managed application support for Proofpoint email security platforms (PPS, TAP, TRAP/CTR) while also supporting the AWS infrastructure hosting these services.

The engineer serves as the AWS Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the Managed Threat Protection Services (MTPS) team and partners closely with Professional Services and internal infrastructure teams during deployment and steady-state operations.

Key Responsibilities

Proofpoint Security Platform Support

+ Provide operational support for Proofpoint email security platforms including PPS, TAP, and TRAP/CTR

+ Monitor platform health, alerts, and service performance

+ Troubleshoot application and configuration issues

+ Implement customer requests such as policy updates, routing changes, and feature enablement

+ Act as an escalation point for complex customer and platform issues

+ Participate inon‑callrotation and incident response

+ Collaborate withEngineeringand Professional Services during customer onboarding and transitions tosteady‑statesupport

AWS Infrastructure Support & SME Responsibilities

+ Serve as the primary AWS Subject Matter Expert for the MTPS team

+ Support and troubleshoot AWS infrastructure hosting Proofpoint services, including:

+ EC2 instances and Auto Scaling

+ VPCs, subnets, routing, and security groups

+ Application and Network Load Balancers

+ S3 and EBS storage

+ IAM roles, policies, and permissions

+ CloudWatch metrics, logs, and alarms

+ Perform initial triage ofAWS‑relatedincidents and coordinate escalation to internal infrastructure teams whenrequired

+ Validate infrastructure health during and after deployments led by Professional Services

+ Support approved infrastructure changes following established change management processes

+ Create andmaintainAWS operational documentation and runbooks for MTPS

+ Identifyreliability, monitoring, and security gaps and recommend improvements

Qualifications

Required

+ 5+ years of experience in security engineering, managed services, or enterprise technical support

+ Hands‑onexperience supporting Proofpoint email security platforms in production environments

+ Operational experience supportingAWS‑basedinfrastructure

+ Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls)

+ Experience supporting Linux and Windows systems

+ Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills

Preferred

+ AWS certification (Solutions Architect – Associate,SysOpsAdministrator, or equivalent)

+ Experience supporting SaaS or managed security services in AWS

+ Scripting or automation experience (Python or Bash)

+ Industry certifications such as Security+, Network+, or CISSP

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets as set out below. Pay within these ranges varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate. The range provided may represent a candidate range and may not reflect the full range for an individual tenured employee. This role may be eligible for variable compensation and/or equity. We offer a competitive benefits package, including flexible time off, a comprehensive well-being program with two paid Wellbeing Days and two paid Volunteer Days per year, plus a three-week Work from Anywhere option.

Base Pay Ranges:

SF Bay Area, New York City Metro Area:

Base Pay Range: 111,300.00 - 174,900.00 USD

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Washington DC Metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, Washington, Virginia, and Alaska:

Base Pay Range: 93,300.00 - 146,630.00 USD

All other cities and states excluding those listed above:

Base Pay Range: 83,600.00 - 131,340.00 USD
