Scope of Position
The Security Officer overnight is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of guests, associates, and property during overnight hours. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a secure and welcoming environment in a hospitality setting.
Position Requirements
- Professional demeanor appropriate for a resort environment.
- Outstanding guest services skills, professional presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle a multitude of tasks in a fast-paced ever-changing environment.
- Analyze information from several sources and make rapid and accurate decisions based on the information gained.
- CPR, First Aid and AED Certifications, preferred.
- At least 1 year of progressive experience in a resort or equivalent.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Patrol hotel property, including guest floors, parking areas, entrances, and public spaces.
- Monitor surveillance cameras, alarms, and security cameras.
- Respond promptly to guest and employee concerns, disturbances, or emergencies.
- Enforce hotel policies and safety procedures.
- Assist with incident investigation and complete detailed incident reports.
- Ensure all doors, gates, and restricted areas remain secure throughout the shift.
- Support front desk and management teams while overnight operations as needed.
- Deliver exceptional guest service while maintaining a professional presence.
- Ensure each guest receives a warm, personal greeting at every interaction.
- Assist guests to their rooms or assist guests' w/entry into their rooms according to hotel standards.
- Always use proper radio etiquette.
- Complete security activity logs, documenting all activity during shift.
- Defuse any incidents of threats or violence within the resort.
- Respond to emergency situations, including medical, security, guest complaints, etc.
- Administer First Aid/CPR, as necessary.
- Control all keys within the guidelines established.
- Check all packages and associate bags via the staff entrance/exit, or entrance of the parking areas.
- Check and record identification of suspicious persons.
- Conduct rounds throughout the resort, paying attention to unsecured areas. All discrepancies must be documented.
- Knowledge of the resort's computerized locking system.
- Receive and process all lost and found items as per procedures established.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which will include wearing the proper uniform, name tag and only issued equipment.
- Perform any additional duties requested by management.
Education
- High school diploma: experience in a large hotel environment preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate in the English language. Second language is a plus.
- Ability to work overnight and flexible schedules including holidays and weekends and able to perform multiple tasks.
- Experience using computers and software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be physically fit to lift, pull, and push items up to 50 pounds.
- Also requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift.
