Position Summary:


The Lead Security Officer performs security officer operational duties, and is also expected to perform administrative duties associated with the shift. Coordinates the work of the Security Officers in the absence of the supervisor, and oversees work activity during the shift. The Lead Security Officer also serves as the primary site contact for law enforcement agencies when senior Security leadership is not on site. It is expected that the Lead Security Officer will demonstrate behavior consistent with Dignity Health core value and humankindness. The Lead Security Officer shall support Dignity Health’s strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality improvement/process improvement activities.


CoreDuties :


+ Performs all Security Officer duties, and oversees the Security Officers assigned to the shift. Plans, organizes and directs work. Assists with training of staff. Ensures that all Security Officers assigned to the shift meet all standards, including uniform and grooming standards

+ Assists with the implementation and maintenance of security procedures to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations

+ Makes recommendations to improve physical security and/or department operations

+ Prepares all required shift paperwork


Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:


+ High school diploma or equivalent; or three (3) years’ experience as a security officer

+ Six (6) months experience as security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service; or one (1) year experience as a security officer

+ Current driver’s license issued by the state wherein the position is posted with satisfactory DMV report on file or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire; (2) current state issued security officer license, showing no disciplinary actions; (3) workplace violence training annually

+ Must be able to speak English, communicate clearly orally, and in writing; understand and use de-escalation techniques

+ Completion of IAHSS Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officer within 90 days; American Heart Association approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of employment
