Location: Garrett County Public Schools - Central Office
FTE: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Status: Unit III Support Bargaining Unit
Terms: 12 Months, regularly 8 hours per day but workday may be greater based upon the needs of the system
Salary Range: $45,933 - $52,605 (Commensurate with education and experience)
Supervisor: Director of Elementary Education
Availability: Immediately

Job Description:
The Secretary III provides high-level secretarial and administrative support to the Office of Elementary Education, ensuring efficient operations and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Board policies. This position requires advanced clerical and organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to manage sensitive information with discretion. The Secretary III serves as a central point of contact between the office, school administrators, staff, parents, and community partners.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Associate's degree in Secretarial Science or related field; or equivalent work experience as determined by the employer.
Five (5) years of exemplary clerical experience, including at least three (3) years providing administrative-level support.
Professional Requirements:
Successful completion of required criminal background, drug, and tuberculosis screenings.
Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency.
Demonstrated history of professionalism, strong work ethic, and confidentiality.
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel), Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Drive), and office technology.
Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
Strong time-management and multitasking skills while meeting strict deadlines.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure.
Capacity to maintain composure and professionalism in stressful situations.
Physical/Other Requirements:
Ability to lift moderately heavy objects (2550 lbs.), and perform standard physical activities related to office duties.
Reliable vehicle for frequent school-based visits.
Regular and predictable attendance.
