Department: Fire Rescue Department Organizational Unit: Fire Operations

$18.05 to $19.86 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based upon experience and qualifications. Central Area/Rockledge/Timothy J. Mills Fire Rescue Center. Performs skilled office and clerical work involving recurring and non-recurring duties that require the use of complex procedures. Work requires the exercise of initiative, independent judgment, and discretion in handling administrative details.
REQUIREMENTS: Two (2) years of experience in clerical or secretarial work that includes experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or other similar software; OR six (6) months of experience as a Brevard County Office Assistant II. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must pass the Brevard County typing test at 35 correct words per minute. Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must be able to successfully pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background check administered by the Brevard County Sheriff's Office. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
