REPORTS TO
Building Diagnosticians, Directors of Special Services, Building Principal
POSITION SUMMARY
To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the diagnostic and counseling departments.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: A background in computers and word processing knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Communication: Excellent communication skills; must be able to serve the public in a diplomatic, friendly, and efficient manner.
- Editing: Ability to edit routine correspondence for spelling and grammatical errors.
- Organization: Be highly organized and efficient in a high energy and fast-paced environment.
- Experience: Familiarity with special education processes is preferred.
- Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Willingness to learn special education process.
- Maintains and ensures that all Special Education files are current and in order.
- Types reports, letters, forms, etc., related to the special education process.
- Mailing of evaluation reports and IEP related paperwork.
- Scheduling appointments with parents, teachers, and agencies regarding special education testing as well as other types of conferences.
- Management of student special education and regular education information in the student information system.
- Preparing and supplying Special Education reports for building principal and central office staff.
- Processes information related to students transferring into and out of the district.
- Assists with intake registration and enrollment of new students, including contacting the previous school for records.
- Answer incoming phone calls in a courteous, professional manner.
- Communicate in a clear manner with all Special Education Staff and all other staff related to the position.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Assists with screening and referral information, disseminating necessary forms to appropriate staff.
