POSITION: Administrative Assistant II, School Counseling

LOCATION: Newtown High School, Sandy Hook, CT 06482

STARTING DATE: August 14, 2026

DURATION: 52 weeks, 35 hours per week

REMUNERATION: $29.36 per hour

Qualifications:

  • Must have an excellent knowledge of PowerSchool, Google Office Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Must have excellent writing and communication skills. Must be well organized with the ability to plan and organize work so that needed results can be achieved.
  • In this fast-paced environment, candidates must be able to handle multiple tasks, teacher, student and parent requests, and demonstrate confidentiality and excellent problem solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison between the School Counseling Department, teachers, staff, students parents, and outside agencies.
  • Follow guidelines to register new students.
  • Use technology to assist families with the registration process.
  • Help maintain the daily functions of the department.
  • Maintain daily calendars. Schedule meetings as needed using Google Calendar.
  • Carry out work as specified by Principal and Assistant Principals.
