The School District of New Berlin is seeking a proactive and dedicated Student Learning Assistant (SLA) - English Learner to join the New Berlin Eisenhower Middle/High School team. This role is essential in assisting students with the acquisition of English language and culture skills while ensuring they have proper accommodations within regular education classrooms. This role offers a consistent schedule of 5.75 hours per day following a 182-day school year calendar.
Instructional Support & Tutoring
Targeted Support: Tutor English Learners in core subject areas, including English, math, science, and social studies.
Language Acquisition: Plan and implement student activities focused on English language acquisition and cultural competence.
WIDA & Compliance: Maintain familiarity with English Learner proficiencies as outlined by state and federal laws.
Collaborative Partnership: Work with administrators, teachers, and psychologists to provide appropriate guidance and learning opportunities for EL students.
Technical Implementation: Utilize technological tools, including AI-assisted translation and educational software, to increase a student's ability to learn English.
Classroom Advocacy: Assist regular education teachers in implementing proper accommodations to ensure curriculum accessibility.
