DESCRIPTION
Madison District Public Schools is seeking a full-time Secondary Social Studies Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for history, civics, geography, economics, and the social sciences while fostering critical thinking, inquiry, and civic engagement among students. The successful candidate will be committed to building positive relationships with students, differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs, and utilizing a variety of instructional strategies and technology to enhance student achievement and engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate in Social Studies, RX or CX Endorsement
- Demonstrated knowledge of Michigan Academic Standards for Social Studies
- Knowledge of effective instructional practices and curriculum development
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, parents, and staff
- Strong communication, technology, and organizational skills
- Competency in student management and supervision
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and state standards.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to support diverse learning styles and student needs.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments and use data to inform instruction.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and families regarding academic progress.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, attendance, and communication.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment that promotes engagement and respect.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and families to support student success and achievement.
- Participate in professional learning opportunities and district initiatives to improve instructional practices.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.
