The Secondary Markets Specialist supports investment and trading teams by analyzing secondary market transactions, monitoring liquidity and pricing, and assisting with the execution and settlement of trades. This role blends quantitative analysis, market monitoring, and operational support to optimize portfolio performance and secondary market activity.
The position involves close collaboration with portfolio managers, trading desks, risk teams, and operations/settlement teams.
Monitor secondary market transactions, pricing, and liquidity for portfolio positions
Support trade execution, settlement, and reconciliation in secondary markets
Analyze secondary market performance, transaction costs, and market impact
Build and maintain dashboards, analytical models, and reporting tools for secondary market activity
Conduct portfolio analysis to assess liquidity, pricing, and secondary market trends
Assist with P&L tracking, risk exposure reporting, and portfolio valuation adjustments
Identify inefficiencies, anomalies, and opportunities in secondary market transactions
Prepare daily, weekly, and ad-hoc reports for portfolio managers and senior management
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field
Understanding of financial markets, instruments, and secondary market mechanics
Experience or coursework in trading, secondary market analysis, or quantitative finance (preferred but not required)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with Python, R, SQL, or other analytical tools is a plus
Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, time-sensitive environments
Strong written and verbal communication skills
