The Second-Class mechanic conduct a proper work area exam, complete each day''s jobs with the highest regard for safety, preventative maintenance, fabrication of plant equipment, and general plant maintenance.
- High School Diploma Required.
- High level of commitment to safety and quality.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work from elevated platforms.
- Ability to use hand tools (e.g., shovels, hammers, wrenches).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment and most plant breakdowns.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical systems.
- Ability to weld, cut metal, and fabricate parts.
- Valid New Jersey driver''s license required.
- Must pass a mechanical basic skills test.
- Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) knowledge preferred.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Warehouse experience preferred.
- Assist First Class Repairman with maintenance and repair activities.
- Perform mechanical repairs with minimal supervision.
- Analyze test results, machine error messages, and operator feedback to diagnose equipment issues.
- Observe and test machinery using voltmeters and other testing equipment to identify malfunctions.
- Disassemble machinery and equipment to repair or replace defective components.
- Examine parts for wear, damage, or breakage.
- Clean, lubricate, adjust, and maintain machinery and equipment.
- Operate repaired equipment to verify repairs and ensure proper functionality.
- Assist plant operations and other maintenance personnel as needed.
- Demonstrate the ability and willingness to progress through the Maintenance classification program up to Repairman First Class.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Assist First Class Repairman with maintenance and repair activities.
