Description / Position Overview

SEASONAL - Youth Sports Internship

About the Job: This internship involves supporting various aspects of sports program management, including assisting with registration for youth and adult sports, recruiting volunteer coaches, and providing hands-on support during programs from May 2026 - August 2026.

Work Location: 1315 East Pikes Peak Avenue (in Memorial Park) Colorado Springs, CO 80909

This is a seasonal (at-will) position with benefits limited to those required by applicable state and federal laws, which include Workers Compensation, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, and PERA (Public Employees Retirement Association). Total hours worked will not exceed 1,500 annually.

In this position you will:

  • Assist with registration processes for both youth and adult sports
  • Assist in volunteer coaching recruitment via phone and email
  • Provide support for programs by observing, assisting, leading, and planning
  • Assist in completing league scheduling
  • Assist with documenting and updating equipment inventories
  • Assist with equipment distribution to teams and coaches
  • Develop the participants performance skills

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic fundamentals and techniques of various sports, fitness activities, and/or tournaments
  • Ability to work and communicate in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to assist in the operation and control of organized recreation activities.
  • Ability to take the initiative in asking questions, performing tasks, and in leading and supervising participants, as appropriate
  • Ability to become familiar and implement sports division policies and procedures
  • Ability to interpret rules and regulations
