We are in search of talented and experienced individual Tax Reviewers for the upcoming 2027 tax season. The Tax Reviewer will review complicated individual tax returns prepared by junior level staff, as well as provide feedback and guidance. The Tax Reviewer may also compile and present training materials to others in the department. This position does not involve client contact.

What you will do:

  • Utilizes departmental systems and software to review tax returns prepared by junior staff using CCH Axcess.
  • Ensures completeness and accuracy of tax returns by referring to prior year tax documents.
  • Follows all federal, state and local tax laws and perform research when necessary.
  • Escalates complex tax issues to manager for counsel when appropriate.
  • Utilizes practice management software for workflow and client billing.
  • Provides guidance and training to tax preparers on new and/or complicated tax topics.
  • Attends department meetings through Microsoft Teams.

Position Requirements

What we are looking for:

  • High School Diploma
  • At least 3 to 5 years' of relevant work experience within a CPA firm or tax preparation company
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • SurePrep experience
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills to serve as a subject matter expert in reviewer role in order to provide answers/resolutions to escalated calls.
  • Ability to attend training the 4th week of January 2027.
  • Ability to work Part-time January through February, then work a consistent schedule 6 to 7 days per week through April 15th.

  • CPA or EA preferred but not required

In accordance with applicable law, the following represents a reasonable estimated compensation range for this role: The estimated pay range for this role, if based in Denver, CO, is $37-$83/hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, and geographic location and may be more or less than the amount shown above this role:.

Remote eligibility may be considered for candidates located in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Florida, Colorado, South Carolina or Texas.
