Description / Position Overview
SEASONAL - Pikes Peak - America's Mountain (PPAM) Maintenance Worker - Snow Removal
How many people can boast that they remove snow on one of the most iconic mountains in the world? In this position, you will perform a variety of maintenance duties in support of Pikes Peak - Americas Mountain with snow removal as your primary responsibility. Our PPAM road crew and facilities maintenance staff will support you with every scoop and bucket removal of snow.
This is a seasonal (at-will) position with benefits limited to those required by applicable state and federal laws, which include Workers Compensation, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, and PERA (Public Employees Retirement Association).
Anticipated dates of employment are from February through July. Work schedule will be up to 40 hours per week, Tuesday - Saturday or Sunday - Thursday, with some weekend and holiday work required. Traditional work hours are 7am to 3:30 pm, dependent upon snowstorms. Total hours worked will not exceed 1,500 annually.
Essential Job Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:
Removing snow using a shovel or snow blower for several hours at a time at an elevation of 14,115' or below, depending on the amount and location of snowfall
Applying sand and salt mixes to walkways to de-ice walking surfaces
Flexible availability each time it snows, reporting to Pikes Peak jobsite
Removing snow in designated locations, and disposing of it appropriately
Operation of motorized snow removal equipment upon completing required operational training
Participating in maintaining a safe and secure work environment for employees and guests by adhering to risk management and safety policies and guidelines
Reporting all safety issues or concerns to the appropriate Supervisor
Maintain and care for PPAM provided equipment & tools
During non-snow removal days, assist with:
maintenance and repair of buildings, structures, drainage systems, grounds, and trails
Perform repair duties in area of assignment, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, and masonry
Complete work orders and maintenance tasks ensuring compliance with City policies, procedures, public safety standards, and aesthetic guidelines
Perform field inspections checking for wind damage, vandalism, and safety issues
Assist in the collection and proper disposal of trash and debris
Interact with guests, providing information and conveying area rules
Assists in the documentation of all scheduled/unscheduled work performed
Perform other duties as assigned that support the mission and vision of PPAM

Work is performed in an outdoor environment with exposure to extreme weather conditions, high traffic areas, and at an altitude up to 14,115 feet.
This position is located in Cascade, CO. Employees are responsible for their own transportation to and from the workplace.
Regular attendance and a flexible availability work schedule is essential to the performance of this job. Some snow apparel gear will be provided.
This position requires the ability to walk and stand for extended periods, work around moving vehicles and wildlife, stand, sit, stoop, walk, climb, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds occasionally. Potential exposure to hostile or aggressive PPAM guests may be encountered.
