Role Overview:

The Seasonal Part-time Customer Service Representative for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Transportation Services Call Center (TSCC) is responsible for accepting, logging and resolving requests from Indiana citizens and businesses in a timely and professional manner to provide superior customer service. The primary responsibility of this role is to respond to customer inquiries submitted through our online portal. When necessary, this role may be required to answer phone calls from customers. This position will also escalate and coordinate with our district partners to find resolutions for customer inquiries. This position will work in the Indiana Government Center North office a minimum of three days a week depending on agency needs.

This position is with INDOTs Central Office location.

Pay Rate:

This position pays an hourly rate of $16.24/hr.

A Day in the Life:

The essential elements of the job duties:

  • Acts as customer service representative fielding customer service calls with superior customer service.
  • Performs administrative work such as: open/sort mail, compose/edit correspondence relative to assigned work, maintain files, data entry, screens and directs telephone calls.
  • Maintains and organizes files and databases related to tracking customer requests, investigations and systems responses, etc.
  • Researches and responds to inquiries and special projects and prepares reports.

What Youll Need for Success:

This person must have the following requirements to be considered for employment:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Considerable computer skills with Microsoft Office Software preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to gather, collate, and classify information about data, people, or things; define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; write letters, papers, and reports; handle sensitive and face to face inquiries and contacts with the general public.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.

Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
