SEASONAL MAINTENANCE CREW SUPERVISOR (Park Steward Program)
DEPARTMENT OF PARKS, RECREATION AND CEMETERY
City of Worcester
The City of Worcester is seeking qualified applicants for the Seasonal Maintenance Crew Supervisor for the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cemetery. Under the direction of the Seasonal Maintenance Director, the position will work for the Park Steward Program and is responsible for completing maintenance tasks, supervise small maintenance crews and coach seasonal staff in their daily work assignments. The employee will work in accordance with City of Worcester standard park/cemetery maintenance practices & procedures. This is a seasonal position, with an approximate end date of August 31, 2026.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:
Perform general landscaping duties and remove trash from assigned areas
Oversee the activities of seasonal maintenance workers to ensure assigned work details are being performed and ensure safety protocols are followed
Complete weekly time sheets, work details, and record keeping
Operate power equipment and hand tools
Operate small machine equipment (lawn mowers, trimmers, & leaf blowers)
Perform work in accordance with City of Worcester standard park/cemetery maintenance practices & procedures
Respond appropriately to situations requiring first-aid
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions
Ability to interact with patrons and the general public in a proper and professional manner
Ability to Respond to emergency situations
Ability to work independently and supervise small groups of people
Ability to organize multiple tasks
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Knowledge of basic administrative duties
Ability to accept supervision and guidance
Ability to perform manual tasks requiring some physical exertion
Ability to work up to thirty (30) hours per week
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High School Degree or equivalent
Minimum of 18 years of age
One (1) year of experience in a supervisory capacity in outdoor maintenance
One (1) year of experience in general maintenance or landscaping
Excellent communication skills
Valid Driver's License
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's degree in a related field
Two (2) years of experience in general maintenance or landscaping in a supervisory capacity
First-Aid and CPR/AED Certified
STARTING SALARY: $16.00 hourly, seasonal, non-benefitted
