Advertised salaries are reflective of the 2025-2026 School Year and will be updated after 2026-2027 School Year budget approval.
Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking summer hires to perform seasonal landscape maintenance and groundskeeping work such as:
- Mowing lawns
- Weeding
- Leaf and debris removal
- Watering and fertilizing plants, trees, and shrubs on school property.
Essential Job Functions
- Assists in the care and maintenance of lawns and grasses of school division buildings and premises, including sidewalks, parking lots, fields, and surrounding areas.
- Conducts routine and preventative upkeep as required.
- Maintains an inventory of all trade-related maintenance and general building supplies, including equipment and fuel.
- Operates and maintains commercial groundskeeping equipment, including but not limited to leaf blowers, mowers, and various attachments.
- Complies with local codes and ordinances pertaining to the storage, disposal, and recycling of trash, rubbish, and waste.

Special Requirements
Selected hires must be 18 years of age upon hire and must be available Monday through Friday from May 29th - August 7th at a schedule up to 37.5 hours per week.
Employment Terms
- Employment may be offered as seasonal hourly support.
- This position is temporary.
- An employees work schedule will be structured on an hourly, as-needed basis and recorded via a time sheet.
- This position is evaluated annually.
