SEASONAL GATE ATTENDANT SALARY 11.00 per hour
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The overall purpose and general responsibilities Under supervision of the Park Manager, the gate attendant has the responsibility of greeting park guests, providing the public with general information of the park rules and its amenities. This is a temporary, non-supervisory position. Accountable for following the park policies and the collection of conservation fees and preparing revenue reports at the end of the shift. Exercise proper customer ethics to remedy disgruntled guests.

General point of contact Reports to Park Manager Communicates with the public, park guests, gate attendants, and other co-workers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The fundamental duties and tasks which define the job Responsible for greeting guests and customers in a proper, courteous, and professional manner. Provide the public with information regarding the parks amenities, park hours, fees, and park policies. Direct complaints to the proper division manager or assistant manager. Accountable for the appropriate collection of conservation fees. Exercises operation and maintenance of the entrance gate booth and equipment. Receive and transmit radio communications with the office and other park division staff. Responsible for general park duties, including litter collection, maintaining beach areas, and entrance areas to remain free of any litter.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate is preferred but not required. Must have good people person skills and good cooperative working relationships with other employees. Must enjoy working with the public, have good verbal communication skills, and be able to present a professional image. Must enjoy working in an outdoor setting, be physically fit. Ability to speak English/Spanish is desirable. References will be thoroughly checked.
LICENSES AND OR CERTIFICATIONS
Valid State of Texas Drivers License with a good driving record is preferred but not required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Must be able to follow oral instructions. Must be able to perform strenuous work in the outdoor. Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish. Must be able to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with the public and other employees.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical requirements may include lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs. Subject to handling, sitting, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and twisting to perform the essential job functions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working environment and other conditions of employment Working conditions will be in the outdoor setting. Will be required to occasionally drive a county-owned vehicle and use equipment as needed. Weekend, holiday, and evening work are required. This is not a Civil Service covered position.
