EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS ---------------------
Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps. To be considered for employment, applicants must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES -----------------
The purpose of this position is to assist in the beautification of Anchorage parks and streetscapes and to maintain its natural resources. The gardener I position is the first level in the gardener classification series. This position generally performs routine gardening and landscaping under general supervision.
DISTINCTION BETWEEN LEVELS OF GARDENER WORKERS ---------------------------------------------
The distinction between this level and other levels of gardener workers is based upon the level and complexity of duties performed and the degree of supervision received and exercised.
SUMMER SEASONAL POSITION ----------------------
This is a summer seasonal position that will be assigned to one or more zone areas to assist in flower bed preparation; in the maintenance, planting, irrigation of trees, shrubs, turf, flower beds and hanging flower baskets; the cleaning and sanitation of the parks; and in general landscaping and maintenance of parks, municipal facilities, and roadways.
