Seasonal Concrete Worker / Lead Street Division

POSITION SUMMARY These positions perform concrete repairs and other assignments to assist with overall division operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be required and assigned. Not all duties may be assigned to each position. The allocation of duties for this position will be dependent upon the department/division assigned and qualification of the assigned work/equipment.

Duties assigned to Seasonal Concrete Worker and Lead Concrete Worker

  • Prepare and set up traffic safety signage, barricades, cones, and such to create a safe working environment.
  • Work site preparation through the use of construction equipment and hands-on manual labor.
  • Removes existing materials such as concrete, dirt, and gravel.
  • Installs new gravel, rebar, forms, and other items to complete the job.
  • Compacts gravel base material.
  • Installs new curb/gutter, valley gutters, sidewalks, fillet sections, and other types of concrete as needed.
  • Cleans tools and work sites as needed.
  • Safely operates heavy and light construction equipment, machinery, and tools.
  • Performs preventive maintenance or repair on equipment and tools.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in a safe manner and follows all safety regulations.
  • Reports all accidents to the appropriate authority and follows all policies for reporting.
  • Assists with finishing concrete.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional duties assigned to Seasonal Lead Concrete Worker

  • Completes written records of labor and materials used for each project.
  • Plans and schedules daily work to be performed.
  • Finishes new concrete to required finish.
  • Performs leadership duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

Seasonal Concrete Worker - Streets MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma/equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years related concrete work experience, and operating pickups, trailers, and skid steers
  • Valid drivers license
  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Experience and knowledge of concrete related work

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Class A or B CDL
  • Manual transmission restriction (E) allowed
  • No endorsements required for this position
  • Basic mechanical ability/experience
  • Work zone safety proficiency
  • MSHA and Hazmat certification
  • First Aid and CPR certification

Seasonal Concrete Lead Worker - Streets MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma/equivalent with five (5) years of related concrete work experience, and operating dump trucks, trailers, and skid steers
  • Valid Class A or B CDL
  • Manual transmission restriction (E) allowed
  • No endorsements required for this position
  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Experience and knowledge of concrete installation practices
  • Entry-level knowledge of roadway/work zone safety signage
  • Ability to read and comprehend plans and specifications for concrete curb/gutter, valley gutters, sidewalks, fillet sections, and other types of concrete construction
  • Experience and knowledge setting grades and elevations
  • Experience and knowledge ordering specified concrete mix

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates degree in engineering, construction, heavy equipment operator, or related field
  • Leadership experience
  • Moderate mechanical ability/experience
  • Work zone safety proficiency
  • MSHA and Hazmat certification
  • First Aid and CPR certification
