DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT: This is a non-exempt, temporary, part time, seasonal position, limited to 1,300 hours annually, under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and/or Coordinator. Concessions leader is responsible for staff in the program area, and for assisting in preparing location and area for day-to-day operations, food preparation, accurate accounting of all transactions while providing customer service skills and positive attitudes. This job description is an overview and is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the functions and tasks required for the position.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Operates Point of Sale system (POS). Food and beverage preparation and service

Direct supervision of all staff at site - includes daily guidance and evaluations.

Assign duties within the concession stand, enforces City and department policies and procedures

Maintains level of inventory of concessions site throughout shift, reports replacement needs to Coordinator as necessary.

Responsible for effectively handling all guest, staff and facility incidents that occur, using mature, sound judgment

Driving City vehicle with supplies and equipment to program sites

IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for cash register operations to include accurately collecting and depositing money. Makes change and issues receipts to customers.

Overseas and participates in concession site set up and closing procedures; prepares concession sheets, balances inventory to cash, and closes out point of sale system with appropriate reports.

Ensures quality of products and accurate service of all food and beverage items.

Ensures a quality appearance of the concession site at all times; ensures that all workstations at the concession site and the back of concession site and storerooms remain clean and organized.

Greets the public and answers questions, responds to inquiries from staff and customers.

Maintains a professional appearance at all times as to both dress and personal hygiene.

Completes any necessary paperwork such as accident/incident reports and inventory.

Performs other duties as assigned.

May perform the duties of similar classifications of an equal or lower pay grade.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical standards an employee must meet to perform the essential job duties with or without a reasonable accommodation include, but are not limited to: Must have the ability to lift and move equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without accommodation. Frequently performs activities requiring a full range of body movements including sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, crawling, twisting, and balancing.

Frequently stands for prolonged periods of time.

Ability to hear verbal instructions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Knowledge of group management techniques

Knowledge of basic mathematical calculations.

Ability to interpret and apply rules and regulations in assigned area.

Ability to work at least 6 to 8 hours with constant walking bending, reaching, standing, lifting, stretching, and twisting. Must be able and willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include mornings, weekdays, weekends, evenings and holidays

Ability to work successfully with and provide good customer service to supervisors, other City employees, the public and other agencies and organizations.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with those contacted in the course of work

Ability to perform all the job duties in a safe manner

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above, this position requires the following:

At least 18 years of age by start of employment.

At least one year experience in concession setting

High school Diploma or GEDA valid, unrestricted driver's license at the time of application and a valid, unrestricted Colorado Driver's License within 30 days of appointment

License restrictions that may hinder your ability to drive on City business, such as an interlock, will be cause for disqualification During the course of employment, a valid license must be maintained, and the employee must notify the City immediately upon changes to the status of their license

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The applicant may have a math quiz administered to demonstrate ability to add and subtract.

This position involves regular exposure to dust, noise, inclement weather, temperature extremes. All required licenses and certifications must be maintained throughout the term of employment. Failure to obtain or maintain licenses and certifications may result in demotion or termination. Due to Federal and State Criminal Justice System access requirements, classifications that access and maintain criminal justice information may also be required, as a condition of employment, to not have been convicted of and/or have pending charges of a felony or misdemeanor crime that would deny or otherwise restrict access to criminal justice information. This requirement applies to all existing City employees as well as external candidates seeking to fill positions that meet the given criteria.

City of Pueblo Temporary and Seasonal Employee Sick Leave Benefits

Beginning January 1, 2021, all employers in Colorado are required to provide paid sick leave to employees under the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act ("HFWA"). Said leave is accrued at one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours. Per the Act, leave may be used for any of the following reasons:

The employee has a mental or physical illness, injury, or health condition; needs a medical diagnosis, care, or treatment related to such illness, injury, or condition; or needs to obtain preventive medical care.

The employee needs to care for a family member who has a mental or physical illness, injury, or health condition; needs a medical diagnosis, care, or treatment related to such illness, injury, or condition; or needs to obtain preventive medical care.

The employee or family member has been the victim of domestic abuse, sexual assault, or harassment and needs to be absent from work for purposes related to such crime; or

A public official has ordered the closure of the school or place of care of the employees child or of the employees place of business due to a public health emergency, necessitating the employees absence from work.

Consistent with the HWFA, part-time temporary and seasonal employees of the City shall not carry forward more than forty-eight (48) hours of unused sick leave from one year to the next. Pueblo Municipal Code 6-6-5.5, 6-6-5 and 6-6-6

City employment as a temporary or seasonal employee means that the most you can expect to work is 1300 hours in a calendar year. Depending on the work schedule required by the hiring department, this means more time to spend with your family and/or doing other activities.
