Benefits Description The position you are applying for is a non-career, seasonal Camp Counselor in the Recreation Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. This position currently pays hourly. Representative Job Duties This position is a non-career, seasonal position within the Recreation Division of Southfield Parks and Recreation Department. Conduct and assist with a variety of games, crafts, sports and special events for youth ages 5-13. Lead campers through daily activities. Ensure the safety and well-being of campers. Clean and sanitize camp equipment and common use areas. Enforce strict safety protocols with campers and co-workers. Perform various other duties as determined by supervisor. This position reports directly to the Camp Coordinator, who is under supervision of the Recreation Programmer - Youth

Job Requirements

• As Determined By the City Of Southfield You must be 18 years of age and have some experience working with children to obtain this position. Persons serving in this position shall be outgoing, creative, fun and love working with children and people. You must also be able to work outdoors, clean and sanitize equipment and to enforce health and safety protocols on a daily basis. You must pass an oral interview either by phone or in-person. All counselors must pass a criminal history check and central registry clearance.

Supplemental Information Camp day begins at 8:45 am and ends at 4:15 pm, Monday through Friday. Camp Coordinator will determine actual schedule. Counselors for Camps Tadpole, Wildwood, Evergreen are expected to work 7 weeks, 35-40 hours each week. Counselors must attend all scheduled training dates. Staff is to be flexible and available to work when needed. Weekly schedule may include a shift beginning earlier than 8:45 am and/or ending after 4:15 pm due to cleaning/sanitizing or meetings. This position is not eligible for benefits.
