Job Description
Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance operation and litter control of all Parks and Recreation Department buildings and grounds, including cemeteries and other city properties. Duties include mowing and pulling weeds at all city parks, grading and lining fields for sports activities, some custodial work involved. Cemetery duties involve a variety of cemetery internment and maintenance tasks involving manual labor with hand tools such as shovels, rakes, picks, pry bars, hand tampers, and wheelbarrows. Incumbent will perform internment functions including digging graves using appropriate equipment, lowering remains when necessary in assigned gravesites, and backfilling with dirt. Responsible for the maintenance of lawn and other power equipment to include maintaining sprinkler systems. Performs carpentry and plumbing duties. Assists in the maintenance of municipal buildings and surrounding grounds. Operates tractors, mowers, jackhammers, welders, trucks, stem cleaners, buffers, washers, and other related equipment under supervision. Assists in the preparation of facilities including the set-up of equipment for various park and recreation events. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Additional Information
Starting Hourly Pay: $12.00 per hour
Minimum Required Qualifications
• Six (6) months of experience in Parks Maintenance or closely related field. • Valid drivers license. • Must meet citys insurability requirements.
