Must be currently enrolled in at least 6 credits hours.
All hiring documents must be completed prior to first work shift, including acceptable documentation for the I-9 Form.

Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour, 0 - 25 hours per week depending on department need, availability of funds and student eligibility.
This position will gain marketable work experience by working with Yavapai College staff, Faculty and affiliates in a group effort to support the mission, goals and values of Yavapai College. The FEC Teacher Assistant will support the FEC by:
Maintaining a neat, appropriate appearance and being prompt for work hours Ensuring childrens safety through effective supervision Interacting in a calm, positive and caring manner with the children Assisting teachers in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum Reading to children both individually and in small groups, as directed by the teacher Developing an awareness of each childs individual needs, interests, and personality Interacting with the children in ways that empower them as problem-solvers & investigators, encouraging them to respect themselves and others, validating their individuality and promoting their self-esteem Serving as a model for children by speaking and acting in respectful ways Assisting with daily set-up, meals, clean-up and CACFP daily meal count recordkeeping as needed Being a willing and helpful support to the teaching staff by following their directions and anticipating where your help is needed (e.g. if a teachers attention is focused on one child, make sure you are supervising the rest of the group) Maintaining the confidentiality of children, parents and staff at all times Assisting in maintaining an orderly, attractive learning environment Following Center policies and procedures to assure a safe and healthy environment (i.e. wash hands at appropriate times, follow proper diapering and sanitizing procedures, do clean-up chores as needed, and follow the Centers sickness policy) Reading all articles, classroom newsletters and/or teacher updates given to you by the teaching staff and/or the director Adhere to the Centers "no gossip" policy

Preferred Skills & Abilities At least 6 credit hours of early childhood education courses and pursuing a degree in the field. 12 months experience working in a center based program with children between 3 months - 5 years Knowledge of developmentally appropriate curriculum and practices. Knowledge of childrens individual learning styles. Experience implementing or assisting with programming that promotes childrens physical, social, emotional, cognitive and language development.
Essential Functions The start date, to occur no sooner than July 1st of the current aid year, of this position will be determined by the hiring supervisor after an applicant is hired. This position has a standard end of assignment date of June 30th of the current aid year. Assignment may end sooner or be extended depending FWS eligibility, availability and/or department need. This position is employed by Yavapai College, unless otherwise noted in the above job description. Location of this position is noted in the above job description.
