The IT Scrum Master is a special role in an Agile Team who spends much of their time leading & helping other team members communicate, coordinate, and cooperate; generally, this person leads the team in meeting their delivery goals. The Scrum Master is a facilitative leader who helps teams self-organize, self-manage, and deliver via effective Agile practices. The Scrum Master supports and enforces the principles of the Scrum process and other practices that the team has agreed upon. This individual will effectively exhibit JD Finish Line's core values of Customer, People, Winning, Community, and Financial Responsibility in everything they do by performing the following key duties:
Key Components:
Lead, manage and direct scrum teams while coaching product owners & developers on Agile mindset & Scrum practices & ceremonies
Lead teams in handling escalated and complex project issues and coordinating technical delivery across JD/FNL teams to provide successful resolution
Collect & analyze team metrics and provide efficient forecast of team's deliverables, directives and timelines
Help shape processes that increase efficiencies in accordance with product delivery and customer requirements
Mentor and coach business stakeholders on Agile mindset and scrum practices
Ensure deliverables are up to quality standards at the end of each sprint
Remove impediments or guide the team to remove them.
Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of transparency and problem solving.
Assess the Scrum Maturity of the team and coaching them to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and in accordance to organization goals.
Facilitate discussion, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
Assist with internal and external communication, improve transparency, and radiate information.
Be open-minded and comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty. Able to have strong situational awareness and have a greater sense of preparedness and clarity on what others expect from your facilitative leadership. Able and willing to take ownership and grow with the team.
Provide all support to the team using a facilitative leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example.
Take part in special projects and duties as required.
Required Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
3-5 years experience in a Scrum Master role implementing Agile methodologies and Scrum principles. Project management experience for software development a plus.
Experience working in IT/Technical environments, with the ability to understand development concepts, system integrations, data workflows, and infrastructure
In-depth understanding of Agile values, principles and the Scrum framework
Understands IT backlog grooming, tracking, burndown/burn-up charts, velocity, and task definition
Understands long-term product planning in an empirical environment and techniques to become more effective
Scrum Master certification - Preferred
Atlassian suite and Jira software experience
