The Scrub Technician – Cadaver Lab is responsible for supporting surgical training and anatomical lab operations by preparing specimens, maintaining sterile environments, and assisting physicians, educators, and lab personnel during procedural labs. This role ensures compliance with safety, regulatory, and ethical standards related to human tissue handling.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare cadaver specimens for surgical training labs, including thawing, positioning, draping, and preserving tissue integrity
Set up and maintain sterile fields, surgical instruments, and equipment in accordance with aseptic techniques
Function as a scrub technician during lab procedures, anticipating the needs of surgeons & physicians
Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and lab equipment following established protocols
Assist with specimen handling, tracking, labeling, and documentation to ensure full traceability
Maintain inventory of surgical supplies, PPE, and lab materials; restock as needed
Ensure proper storage, transport, and disposal of biological materials in compliance with OSHA, FDA, and state regulations
Support lab breakdown and room turnover between sessions
Adhere to all safety, infection control, and biohazard protocols
Maintain respect, dignity, and confidentiality in all interactions involving human donors
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED required
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred
