Sparta Networking is supporting a leading construction company in hiring an experienced Screed Operator to support asphalt paving operations in a fast-paced environment. This is a hands-on role focused on delivering a smooth, consistent mat while maintaining proper grade and supporting overall crew productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and control the screed on asphalt paving equipment to ensure proper depth, width, and smoothness
- Work closely with the paving crew to maintain consistent material flow and alignment
- Monitor mat quality and make real-time adjustments to meet project specifications
- Assist with setup, teardown, and daily maintenance of paving equipment
- Communicate effectively with operators and crew members to keep projects on schedule
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with OSHA and safety standards
Qualifications
- Experience operating a screed on asphalt paving crews
- Strong understanding of grade, slope, and mat consistency
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Experience in roadwork, paving, or heavy civil construction preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
Work Environment
- Physically demanding role, including lifting up to 60 lbs
- Exposure to outdoor conditions, heat, noise, and asphalt materials
- Use of PPE required at all times
