The Opportunity
We are looking for a Non-Ferrous Scrap Yard Buyer and Small Scale Operator to join our team in Locust Grove. This role is ideal for someone with scrap metal experience who wants to deepen their expertise in non-ferrous metals, work directly with customers, and play a key part in daily yard operations.
In this position, you will own the process of evaluating, grading, and pricing incoming non-ferrous material while delivering strong customer service and supporting a safe, efficient yard. What You'll Do
- Greet and assist customers as they unload non-ferrous scrap material at the small scale
- Weigh, grade, and evaluate non-ferrous metals (such as copper, brass, aluminum, and wire) using proper techniques and tools
- Provide accurate, fair pricing based on current market values and company standards while documenting transactions correctly
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working area, following all safety procedures and guidelines
- Assist with general labor and processing tasks in the non-ferrous division, including moving, sorting, and preparing material
What Success Looks Like
- Within your first few months, you consistently and accurately grade and price non-ferrous materials with minimal supervision
- Customers recognize you for friendly, efficient service and return regularly because of the experience you provide
- You help keep your work area safe and organized, with minimal downtime and incidents
- You become a dependable part of the yard team, communicating clearly with the Scrap Yard Manager and supporting smooth daily operations
What We're Looking For
- Industry experience in the scrap metal field, with working knowledge of non-ferrous metals and basic grading practices
- Comfort working in a hands-on, outdoor, high-energy environment with regular physical activity
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to learn and follow established processes
- Good communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay range: $65,000 - $75,000 per year, based on experience
- Supportive, team-based work environment with opportunities for advancement
- Full-time, on-site position
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM; Saturday, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
