Scientist II - 12-Month Contract - Ridgefield, CT (Onsite)
Sigma Inc. is seeking an experienced Scientist II to join a leading pharmaceutical research team in Ridgefield, CT. This is an excellent opportunity for scientists with hands-on laboratory experience in analytical chemistry, biopharmaceutical development, therapeutic modalities, chromatography, and formulation development. Key Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory experiments supporting development of new therapeutic modalities including peptides, oligonucleotides, antibodies, viral and non-viral delivery systems.
- Design, execute, analyze, and document scientific experiments with minimal supervision.
- Independently perform routine and non-routine laboratory procedures.
- Prepare buffers, mobile phases, formulations, and other laboratory reagents.
- Utilize analytical techniques including HPLC, SEC, Field Flow Fractionation (FFF/AF4), and related chromatography methods.
- Operate, troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Analyze experimental data and prepare technical reports, protocols, SOPs, and scientific documentation.
- Present scientific findings during project meetings and cross-functional team discussions.
- Conduct literature reviews and apply scientific findings to ongoing research projects.
- Maintain laboratory organization, reagent inventory, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards, GMP practices, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams to support product and process development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific discipline with 5+ years of laboratory experience
OR
- Master's degree with 4+ years of relevant laboratory experience
- Strong experience with wet chemistry preparation methods including buffers, mobile phases, and multi-component formulations.
- Hands-on experience with analytical chromatography techniques including:
- HPLC
- SEC (Size Exclusion Chromatography)
- Field Flow Fractionation (FFF/AF4)
- Experience planning, executing, interpreting, and documenting laboratory experiments.
- Strong scientific writing and technical documentation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within cross-functional teams.
