    JOB GOAL: Develop, implement and manage health services for the school population.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
    • A Bachelor''s degree in nursing, Master''s degree preferred
    • Certified by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a school nurse or able to meet the requirements for licensure
    • Two years experience in child health, community health, or other relevant clinical nursing settings
    • Certification in American Heart Association or Red Cross CPR/AED
    • Ability to provide emergency care/assessment
    • Knowledge of professional and legal requirements
    • Human relations skills
    • Organizational/administrative skills
    • Knowledge of child growth and development
    • Ability to effectively use local resources
    • Techniques in health counseling/guidance
    • Ability to deliver student/staff/parent presentations
    • Strong district lens regarding EL, curriculum, and equity
    • Knowledge of current education legislation/regulations
    • Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for children in order to effectively problem solve
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders
    • Experience in an urban district/setting preferred
    • Basic computer skills including data entry and word-processing

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assess and treat illness, manage chronic disease
    • Provide emergency care
    • Develop and implement individualized health care plans for students requiring nursing services on IEP''s and 504''s
    • Administer medication and immunizations
    • Assure student health requirements are up-to-date
    • Complete health screenings
    • Maintain student health records and computer records
    • Provide support and referral resources for children and their families
    • Work with the school physician
    • Prepare regular written reports for school officials and DPH
    • Any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor

    REPORTS TO: Director of School Nurses

    Work Year 10-month position

    Salary As negotiated with Lynn School Committee and AFSCME Council 93, Local 3147-A
