SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER (NON-CST)

POSITION

To provide IEP mandated counseling and social work services to students in support of academic and social success.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  1. NJ School Social Worker/School Counselor Certification required.

  2. NJ LCSW Certification preferred.

  3. HIB training a plus.

  4. Understanding of Section 504.

  5. Substance Abuse/Awareness experience preferred.

  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  7. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident/immigrant status.

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Special Services

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.

Provide counseling services to students, parents and staff, and, as needed, make referrals to appropriate community resources

2.

Identify students' social and emotional needs

3.

Provide consultation to school personnel relating to the emotional/social well-being of students

4.

Assist in the development and delivery of in-service programs and parent seminars

5.Inform the staff and community of mental health services available in the district

6.

Serve as a consultant to parents, school personnel, and community groups on mental health topics

7.

Ensure provision of service to classified and potentially classified pupils to whom this individual is assigned as case manager, pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:14

8.

Maintain contact with parents of assigned students

9.

Ensure provision of service to classified and potentially classified pupils to whom this individual is assigned as case manager, pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:14

10.

Serve as a member of the Child Study Team11.

Perform formal and informal social evaluations and compose reports detailing results12.Maintain current records of services provided and cases assigned

13.

Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent and/or Director of Planning and Assessment
