Position Summary

The School Psychologist plays a critical role in supporting the academic and emotional success of students across the district. Reporting to the Administrator in Charge or the Supervisor of Special Learning Services, the School Psychologist provides psychological assessments, consultation, and counseling services to students referred for special education or Section 504 services. The role involves collaboration with educators, families, and specialists to design and implement individualized education and behavior plans that promote student well-being and educational progress.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Administer, score, interpret, and report on psychological and educational assessments for students referred for special education or Section 504 services
  • Participate in eligibility and team meetings; support the development of IEPs, behavior plans, and measurable goals
  • Consult with educators and staff to recommend instructional strategies and interventions aligned with student needs
  • Collaborate with related service providers and specialists to coordinate comprehensive student support
  • Provide individual and group counseling services to students as identified in IEPs or 504 plans
  • Conduct parent consultations and participate in after-school or evening meetings as needed
  • Deliver professional development to staff on topics such as behavior management and assessment practices
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services and evaluations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Administrator in Charge or Supervisor of Special Learning Services

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of psychological testing and special education eligibility criteria
  • Skilled in behavioral plan development and interpretation of psychological data
  • Effective interpersonal, consultation, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school-based teams and families
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices
  • Organizational skills to manage caseloads and documentation efficiently

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Certification as a School Psychologist (Massachusetts licensure)
  • Experience conducting assessments in school or clinical settings
  • Experience developing behavior plans and supporting students with cognitive, behavioral, or emotional needs in inclusive environments
  • Proficient in English; bilingual candidates strongly preferred
  • Willingness to travel across district sites
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule for after-school or evening meetings when necessary

Pay Range

  • Salary in accordance with the Lawrence Teachers Union contract, $61,788 - $94,614
  • Exempt position; 185 school days
