SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Special Education or designee, and under the supervision of a licensed District Physical Therapist, assists in providing direct services to students who qualify for physical therapy services, ages 3 to 22 years; functions as part of a multidisciplinary team providing integrated service to students residing in the Palm Springs Unified School District. The Physical Therapy Assistant will complete a variety of tasks as prescribed, directed, and supervised by a licensed Physical Therapist such as, but not limited to activities designed to support gross motor, and perceptual motor skills, posture, and movement and use of equipment to access the general curriculum. The Physical Therapy Assistant works with students who qualify for physical therapy as a related service per federal and state guidelines.. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from High School and an associate's degree and graduation from a Physical Therapist Assistant program accredited by the Commission on accreditation in Physical Therapy; One (1) year of experience providing direct therapy to individuals in need of physical therapy in a clinical or education setting.
