Experience and Certification: Knowledge of and/or experience with large-scale food preparation, menu planning, budget management, and supervision of staff. Professional certifications in food safety, food preparation and/or dietetics.

Reports To: Superintendent

Position Summary: To manage all aspects of a school district's food service program, ensuring meals meet USDA federal, state, and local nutritional guidelines, safety regulations, and budget requirements. To assist in the production and delivery of all school meals as needed. The School Nutrition Supervisor will be expected to carry out the duties identified within this document and all other duties that may accrue to be assigned in a manner that meets or exceeds the standards established by the school board, board policies, and superintendent.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implements a customer service driven philosophy with education partners such as administrators, teachers, parents, and students that focuses on nutrition, nutritional education, value, and satisfaction.

  • Supervises and evaluates school nutrition staff; maintains responsibility for scheduling so that all kitchens are staffed as needed.

  • Develops, trains, and integrates employee safety regulations into all phases of the school food service operation

  • Administers and maintains the school nutrition budget in coordination with the district business manager.

  • Establishes a school nutrition program that supports healthy food habits.

  • Establishes quality standards for the presentation and service of food.

  • Maintains high standards of sanitation and safety.

  • Manages the procurement of food and equipment.

  • Monitors and analyzes all revenue sources and expenditures.

  • Enforces federal/state regulations regarding nutritional standards, reports, and records.

  • Prepares and maintains all records for required audits and reviews.

  • Coordinates all equipment maintenance and building repairs with the appropriate school personnel.

  • Performs such other duties tasks as may be assigned from time to time within the scope of this job description.

  • Fosters positive and appropriate workplace relationships with all district employees.

  • Serves as a positive role model for students.

Terms of Employment: Specific terms and conditions of employment are governed by the School District of Colfax Employee Handbook and applicable Wisconsin law.

Evaluation: Employee performance will be evaluated annually by the superintendent in accordance with applicable school district policy.
