SCHOOL NUTRITION PROGRAM PROBATIONARY ASSISTANT Created June 2017 Revised October 2021 1 Non-ExemptGeneral Definition of Work Performs human support work preparing and serving institutional meals cleaning cafeterias and related work as apparent or assigned.Qualification Requirements • High school diploma or GEDHiSET desired.• General kitchen experience.• Ability to adjust to new and changing situations.• Ability to get along well with others.• Ability to assist in creating an inviting atmosphere for customers and staff.• Ability to read and write.• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.• Ability to work quickly with hands and complete assignments in time allotted.Salary Pay Grade NC 01Reports to SNP ManagerEssential Functions • Serves as a cashier• Washes and wraps fresh fruit measures and cups canned fruit.• Washes and measures ingredients for salads.• Prepares specialty fruit and assists in vegetable preparation.• Prepares food for next day cleans and sanitizes work area.• Counts money for petty cash opens register and reconciles register at end of day.• Prepares food washes dishes cleans up kitchen area.• Serves food.• Operates and cleans equipment including dish room.• Completes daily records.• Stocks food and supplies.Knowledge Skills and Abilities • General knowledge of materials and methods used in preparing meats breads vegetables and other foods on a large scale.• General knowledge of the use and care of utensils and equipment.• General knowledge of food values and nutrition.• Skill in the use of standardized recipes and specialized kitchen utensils and equipment.• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.• Ability to work long hours while standing and under high temperature conditions.
