Role: School Nutrition Coordinator

Reports to: School Nutrition Director

FLSA Status: Exempt

Contract Days: 190 days

Retirement: TRS

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work effectively with the District Wellness Committee Team to assist with promoting proper nutrition, nutrition education, and regular physical activity as part of the total learning experience.
  • Process Community Eligibility Provision certification and handle documentation and accounts for direct certified students.
  • Prepare letters for all Community Eligibility Provision responses to send home to parents.
  • Manage documentation and accounts for homeless students.
  • Serve as the resource person to faculty and staff for nutrition education activities. Make plans and utilize the School Nutrition Program as a learning laboratory to support classroom activities in nutrition education.
  • Coordinate program grants annually and assist schools with the implementation process by communicating with school staff concerning grant projects.
  • Oversee approval and implementation process for high school student interns and service members.
  • Promote the School Nutrition Program by preparing and posting social media communications on all appropriate sites and working with other local media sources.
  • Organize and plan school nutrition promotional activities in the schools and in the community.
  • Assist with maintaining Special Dietary Needs documentation and accommodations.
  • Assist with planning and delivery of annual employee training by implementing a professional growth plan, which includes state required TID courses, Culinary Institute trainings, and Wellness promotions.
  • Plan and host various taste testing promotions and food shows throughout the district.
  • Assist with Georgia School Nutrition Association meetings and documentation for program activities including preparing reports and applications for certifications and awards.
  • Perform any additional assignments designated by the Superintendent or Director.
  • Perform any additional assignments designated by the Superintendent or Director.
  • Follow federal and state laws as well as Board policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education, Licenses and/or Certificates

Education

  1. Bachelor's degree in program related area

  2. Must take a 30-hour MIT course each year until the 150 hours minimum training is received for Coordinator/Manager Certification

  3. School Nutrition Experience Preferred

  • Ability to be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
  • Ability to perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Ability to perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
  • Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students particularly during emergency situations.
