As a School Nurse (RN) in West Chicago, IL, your days will Include:
  • Complete comprehensive nursing assessments and evaluate student health needs.
  • Develop, implement, and update Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs).
  • Delegate and supervise nursing tasks to qualified personnel when appropriate and permitted by state law and district policy.
  • Provide clinical consultation to school staff regarding student health concerns and accommodations.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, including IEP and 504 meetings, when nursing services are required.

Job Details
  • Position: Contract (option to renew) in a school setting
  • Hours: Full-time (Monday - Friday)
  • Caseload: Elementary age providing general building support and healthcare services

Successful Candidates Possess
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current, active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification (or ability to obtain prior to the start of employment)
  • Previous experience in pediatrics, school nursing, public health, family practice, or a related healthcare setting is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of medication administration, emergency response procedures, infection control, and student health documentation
  • Ability to assess student health needs, respond to medical emergencies, and provide skilled nursing care in a school setting
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, teachers, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Must successfully complete all district-required background checks, fingerprinting, and employment clearances prior to employment
  • The ability to work in the U.S. without a sponsor
