The Weyauwega-Fremont School District is seeking a compassionate, organized, and dependable Part-Time School Nurse to support the health and well-being of students and staff. The school nurse will provide basic medical care, manage student health records, administer medications, and collaborate with staff and families to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment.

This position plays a vital role in promoting student wellness, responding to health concerns, and supporting students with chronic health conditions so they can fully participate in school activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide basic medical care and first aid to students and staff during school hours.
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and district policies.
  • Maintain accurate student health records, including immunization documentation and health plans.
  • Develop and implement individual health care plans for students with chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies).
  • Monitor and manage student illnesses, injuries, and emergencies, including coordinating with emergency services when necessary.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians, school staff, and healthcare providers regarding student health concerns.
  • Assist with health screenings (vision, hearing, etc.) and ensure compliance with state health requirements.
  • Promote health education and wellness practices within the school community.
  • Ensure the school health office is organized, stocked, and compliant with safety guidelines.
  • Participate in school safety planning and emergency preparedness when applicable.

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Wisconsin.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Experience in pediatric, community health, or school nursing preferred.
  • Knowledge of student health regulations, confidentiality (HIPAA/FERPA), and medication administration protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain professional judgment in health-related situations.

Work Schedule

  • Part-time during the academic school year
  • Hours and schedule determined by district needs
