We are seeking a collaborative and professional school nurse to ensure the safety and well-being of our students.
OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
The New Milford Public School District is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and highly qualified Building-Based School Nurse. In this role, you will be the foundation of student health and wellness in your assigned building, providing care to all students. By fostering a safe, healthy, and supportive school environment, you will ensure our students are physically well, ready to learn, and empowered to succeed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of New Jersey.
- Current CPR/AED certification.
- New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) School Nurse Certification is preferred, but not required.
- Must clear a criminal history background check (fingerprinting).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide basic healthcare, first aid, and emergency care to students and staff in case of injury or illness according to district standing orders and policies.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments to students as ordered by physicians and in strict compliance with state laws and district policy.
- Accurately document all health office encounters, treatments, and medical histories in the district's electronic health record system.
- Review and maintain student immunization records, physical exams, and health histories to ensure state regulatory compliance.
- Support medically compromised students.
- Maintain open, professional communication with home-base school nurses, administrators, teachers, and parents regarding student health needs.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Compensation: New Milford Education Association Salary Guide starting at $60,525 (pay will be commensurate with experience and education)
- Full-time employees are eligible for medical, prescription, and dental benefits. Sick, personal and bereavement day allotments are included.
