Duties

TITLE: Nurse

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF PUPIL PERSONNEL

JOB GOAL:

Assist in the implementation of school district health standards.

Performance Responsibilities:

Provides direct nursing care to students and staff in accordance with professional standards, school policies and procedure, and state and local mandates

• Maintains accurate, complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation
• Collects and maintains current health-related data, i.e. medical records, incident of diseases, physical and immunization records
• Administers and monitors medication, subject to local policy regarding the administration of medication at school
• Strives to remain current in the field of nursing through professional growth activities, workshops, in-services
• Provides crisis intervention support and/or emergency care for students and/or staff in the event of sudden illness or injury
• Serves as a liaison between home, school, community health agencies and the private medical sector
• Cooperates with staff, administration, and parents to promote and maintain a sound healthy learning environment
• Serves on building and/or district committees as requested
• Participates in School Improvement Processes
• Administers hearing and vision tests, contingent upon appropriate certification
• Monitors students with specific medical needs
• Performs other health or school related duties as assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Extended contract (185 days) Classified position with salary and hours to be established by the Board of Education

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the

provisions established by the Board of Education.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma.

Certification as a Registered Nurse

Valid driver's license.

Computer knowledge and skills.

Strong communications skills with staff, parents, students.
