JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Registered Nurse

Qualifications: • Valid Registered Nurse RN License • Effective communication skills • Valid Providers Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent from the American Red Cross • Required criminal history background check and proof of S. citizenship or legal resident alien status

Job Goal: To promote health and safety in the school environment and provide health services to students, faculty, and staff.

Reports to: Supervisor of Nursing Services

Performance Responsibilities: • Works cooperatively with a certified school nurse to ensure a healthy school climate and to minimize absence due to illness. • Provides special health care and related services to meet the needs of students with disabilities. • Administers prescribed medication to students in accordance with law and board policy. • Promotes a healthy and safe school environment by assisting the administration and staff to maintain safe and sanitary conditions throughout the school. • Reports problems promptly to the principal. • Provides emergency care in case of sudden illness and administers first-aid in case of injury to students or staff according to established policies and procedures. • Conducts health screenings as required by law and/or board policies. • Maintains student health records as required by law and/or board policies. • Assesses and recommends to the school principal the exclusion of students who show evidence of communicable disease or who have not submitted acceptable evidence of immunizations pursuant to law and/or board policy. • Provides appropriate response to DNR orders. • Maintains a valid current Providers Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification from the American Heart Association or the equivalent from the American Red Cross. • Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor of Nursing Services and/or building administrator.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

10 months non-tenurable

Evaluated by the Supervisor of Nursing Services and the building Principal consistent with collective negotiations agreement.
