School Nurse - District Wide
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Registered Nurse (RN) License
REPORTS TO: Associate Superintendent
JOB GOAL: The professional school nurse is responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating school health services.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience based on the CFT Contract
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews and updates all standard forms for the school health program
- Develops and coordinates quality improvement activities for the school health service component of the school Wellness Policy
- Assures that school health services and activities are appropriately documented according to the professional school nurse standards
- Monitors and participates in disease prevention and outbreak management within the District's schools
- Serves as the health care consultant for school personnel and students
- Provides health leadership to staff and students
- Coordinates the establishment of guidelines, procedures, and training in First Aid/CPR/AED for schools and staff
- Participate in the development and planning of the district's emergency health and crisis plan if consulted
- Implements a system for the identification of students with chronic/acute health care needs
- Assists with the coordination of the bloodborne pathogen program
- Addresses the health needs of individual students or small groups of students
- Plan a course of action and assist students, their parents, and school personnel in assuming proper roles for eliminating, minimizing, preventing, or understanding the health problems that interfere with effective learning by the student
- Develop, manage, and monitor individual healthcare plans for students
- Provision of consultation and recommendations in the planning and development of health accommodation plans for IEPs and 504 eligible students
- Prepare orders for supplies and equipment necessary for nurses' office
- Function as the liaison between the school and local health service agencies/providers and community resources
- Serves as an interpreter of health mandates, recommendations, and trends for school personnel through written materials, meetings, etc.
- Support Medicaid billing and documentation
- Support health and nutrition education
- Other duties as assigned
