This isn't your typical clinic role. You'll be part of a collaborative campus community where healthcare, student development, and education intersect every day.
What You'll Do
As the School Nurse, you will:
- Provide direct nursing care, triage, and first aid to students in a campus clinic setting
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders
- Maintain accurate and confidential student health and immunization records
- Coordinate required health screenings and communicate follow-up needs with families
- Respond to medical emergencies and support campus safety protocols
- Serve as a liaison between students, families, healthcare providers, and community agencies
- Support and train staff on student health needs and medical procedures
- Ensure compliance with the Scope of Practice established by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing and applicable regulations
Beyond the Clinic
At ASMSA, health and wellness are part of the student experience. In this role, you will also:
- Contribute to the wellness component of the residential curriculum
- Provide health education and guidance to students in individual and group settings
- Partner with Counseling Services and Student Life to support student well-being
- Serve on a collaborative Student Strategies Team focused on student success
- Help create a campus culture that prioritizes physical and mental health
What You Bring
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Licensed in the State of Arkansas and in good standing with the Arkansas State Board of Nursing
- Preferred: 2+ years of experience in school health, pediatrics, emergency care, triage, or a clinical setting
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with students, families, and staff
- Ability to stay calm and responsive in emergency situations
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Comfort working both independently and as part of a collaborative team
