School Marshal CertificationSuccessfully pass a fingerprint criminal background investigation physical fitness examination drugalcohol screening mental health evaluation and firearms proficiency exam required.ExperienceOne to three years of experience in law enforcement security or a related field preferred.Special KnowledgeSkillsMust meet all requirements of the Texas School Marshal Program under SecurityMaintain a strong discreet presence on campus to deter and detect threats to student and staff safety.Monitor entry and exit points patrol school grounds and facilities and identify any unusual or suspicious behavior.Collaborate with school administration to evaluate safety vulnerabilities and implement appropriate security measures.Respond to Threats and EmergenciesAct immediately to neutralize any threat posing imminent harm consistent with statutory authorization and use-of-force policies.Serve as the first line of defense in active shooter or life-threatening situations until law enforcement arrives.Participate in lockdowns evacuations and other emergency response protocols.Maintain Confidentiality and Legal ComplianceUphold the confidentiality of the marshals identity as required by Texas Occupations Code.Store and carry a firearm only in accordance with Texas law and local policy ensure access to weapon only when justified by circumstances.Comply with all relevant federal state and local laws board policies and administrative regulations governing school marshals.Develop and Support Emergency PreparednessAssist in the development and review of the school&rsquos emergency operations plan EOP.Conduct or participate in regular emergency drills including lockdown fire and active threat drills.Provide training to staff and students on emergency response procedures when appropriate and authorized.Collaborate with Law Enforcement and District OfficialsWork closely with district police departments School Resource Officers or local law enforcement agencies to coordinate safety efforts.Provide detailed information during investigations and assist in incident follow-ups when needed.Serve as a liaison between school officials and emergency responders during critical incidents.Conduct Threat Assessments and Monitor BehaviorMonitor for behavioral indicators of potential violence or safety risks among students staff or visitors.Support threat assessment teams by sharing security observations and incident reports.Engage in prevention activities by building trust and visibility with students and staff without compromising the marshal&rsquos covert role.Recordkeeping and DocumentationMaintain logs of patrols incidents and safety observations in accordance with district policy.Prepare and submit accurate reports on any safety breaches criminal activity or emergency responses.Document firearm proficiency training psychological evaluations and license renewals as required by TCOLE.Participate in Professional DevelopmentAttend required continuing education and firearms training sessions to maintain TCOLE School Marshal certification.Stay informed of legislative updates new safety protocols and
