The College of Business is seeking a Management, Entrepreneurship, and Supply Chain School Head. This is a part-time (0.75 FTE), 9-month, professional faculty position.

The Management, Entrepreneurship, and Supply Chain (MESC) School Head is responsible for leading the academic, operational, research, and service involvement of the faculty, staff and students. The School Head reports directly to the Sara Hart Kimball Dean and serves on the College of Business Executive Team. The School Head leads the School to a higher level of visibility and impact; inspiring and supporting faculty in their individual and collaborative work; engendering trust through an open and inclusive management style; collaborating as a leader within the College of Business to further enhance the overall excellence of the College; and deepening the active commitment of the School to equity, diversity and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

70% Provide academic leadership for all instructional faculty (professorial and instructor ranks) within the School.

  • Make teaching assignments to fulfill the schedule provided by the Senior Associate Dean.
  • Coordinate with the Associate Dean of Research to provide onboarding, mentoring and ongoing developmental support for T/TT faculty.
  • Support teaching effectiveness of all instructional faculty.
  • Coordinate with College Leadership and manage the hiring process for all instructional faculty for the unit, ensuring equitable, transparent, and inclusive practices across hiring, evaluation, and advancement.
  • Coordinate with College Leadership to ensure faculty deployments across programs, locations, and modalities comply with AACSB guidelines.
  • In coordination with the Associate Dean of Research, perform annual performance reviews for all School faculty, ensuring consistency in evaluations, and manage School level Promotion and Tenure process.
  • In coordination with the College Leadership, make faculty service assignments including Program Coordinators, Professional Development Coordinators, and Course Coordinators.
  • Keep faculty within the unit informed about school/program activities, curricula changes, and College initiatives.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate initiatives and activities that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the school.

20% Manage school-level operations and budget.

  • Approve faculty professional development and research-support expenditures.
  • Provide and justify compensation recommendations to the Associate Dean for Research Development. This includes salaries for new hires, compression/equity adjustments, and excellent performance adjustments.
  • In collaboration with College Leadership, manage enrollment of all programs (majors, minors, options) and courses in the unit. Make recommendations for changes to appropriate curriculum committee.
  • Provide oversight of foundation funds associated with each program ensuring that all expenditures are aligned with the donor intent for each program.

10% Support advisory boards in collaboration with the Director of Advancement.

What You Will Need

PhD in a discipline related to degree programs within the School of Management, Entrepreneurship, and Supply Chain.

Current tenured Associate or Full Professor position within the School of Management, Entrepreneurship, and Supply Chain with an excellent record of research and teaching achievement.

Demonstrated administrative and communication skills and collegiality.

Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships internally and externally and promote a collaborative culture.

Strong academic credentials and commitment to academic excellence in research, teaching and service.

Demonstrated commitment to educational equity and advancing the participation of diverse groups and supporting diverse perspectives.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
