Position Summary:

Spark Academy is seeking exceptional Sixth Grade Math teachers to join our team who possess a growth mindset, value collaboration and continuous feedback, are passionate about their content, and have an unwavering belief that all students are capable of meeting rigorous academic expectations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Submit required reports, paperwork & evaluations promptly and accurately.

Participate in IEP meetings.

Communicate regularly and effectively with administration.

Connect students, parents/guardians and staff with specialized referral agencies and maintain relationships with outside organizations.

Understand, evaluate, and interpret academic performance data. Interpret information about students to the student, their parents/guardians, and staff.

Make him/herself available to all students seeking guidance and counseling services as well as meeting with specific students who require counseling services as outlined in their IEP.

Maintain up-to-date notes and treatment plans for students seen for counseling.

Provide crisis intervention services as needed as well as mediation sessions between students.

Advocate on behalf of a student and/or his/her family. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students.

Facilitate outreach efforts to provide services to students, parents/guardians and staff.

Assist 8th grade students with high school entrance application process.

Build trusting relationships with students and families in an advisory setting of up to 14 students, while also supporting students' understanding of Spark's core values: Seeking Justice, Perseverance, Active Living, Reason, and Kindness

Other responsibilities as needed and assigned by administration

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
• Familiarity with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and Common Core standards

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in School Counseling or related field required; Master's degree preferred
• Valid Massachusetts Certification as a Guidance Counselor (Grades 5-12) or eligibility to obtain licensure
• SEI endorsement or willingness to obtain
• Minimum of 1-2 years counseling experience preferred, especially in urban public schools
• Experience working with diverse learners, including English Language Learners
• Bilingual Spanish/English a plus

Pay Range

• Salary in Accordance with the Lawrence Teachers' Union Contract ($56,415-$84,063)
